Taylor wins state!


Six Teacher/Student movie teams and two Teacher/Student website teams along with family and friends attended the Technology Academy Awards held Wednesday April 28th at the Rylander Theater in Americus, GA.  Taylor County took home 8 Oscars winning Best Picture in all four divisions (Primary, Elementary, Middle, and High) and Best Website in the middle school division.  These movies and website will represent our region in the state competition.


Taylor County High School and Taylor County Middle have won the state's highest award at the Georgia Movie Academy, Best Picture in the State for their division.  This is the second year in a row for both schools.

Representing our region at the state competition in the 9-12 division was the movie entitiled, The Epic Coffee Crash 2010.  The movie is about a“what if?” world where a blight has struck and is destroying all the coffee plants.  It focuses on what might become of the world’s economy and how the world might react. Team members are Rebekah Huffmaster, Amy Morrell, Emily Willard, Miranda Smith, and Jon Gunn. Coach is Shannon Walker.

Representing our region at the state competition in the 6-8 division was the movie entitiled, Strong as Steel.  This movie asks the question, "When you are faced with adversity, will you persevere?"  This movie is the inspirational story of Duane Morrow (former Taylor Countian) whose strength and determination was truly “strong as steel.” Team members are Jon Nelon Guinn, Phildarius Searcy, Cullen Smith, Ret Tucker, Tucker Westbrook, and Will York.  Coaches are Judy Smith and Maria Wicks.
