Books Need Tender Loving Care
Book Care Basics

(1) Keep your books in a safe place, like on a high shelf or a bookcase, when you are not reading them.

(2) Young children might damage books. ItŐs OK for you to
read your books to little brothers, sisters & cousins, but donŐt let them
play with your books.

(3) Never leave your books lying on the floor or on a
low table where pets or young children can reach them.

(4) Food and drink are not good for books. Put your books
away while you are eating or drinking to prevent spills in them.
(5)
Keep from
tearing the pages in a book by turning them from the corners, slowly and
carefully.
(6) Never write or draw in books. If
you feel like writing or drawing while you are reading, do it
on a separate sheet of paper.

(7) Never use anything thicker than a piece of paper for
a bookmark. Thick items will break the binding of a book.

(8) Protect your books from getting wet. Never leave them
outside.

(9) DonŐt loan your library book to other people. If they
damage or lose it, you are responsible.

(10)
Always wash your hands
before reading your book. Dirty hands leave ugly, dirty smudges on pages.
(11) Take good care of your
books and return them to the library on time. If you do, our books will last a
long, long time.
