| On Monday, March 1, 2004, our team traveled to Metter, Georgia to interview Mr. Kevin Hendrix of Hendrix Produce, Incorporated. It took approximately 2 1/2 hours to get to Metter from Butler. However, it was well worth the drive. Mr. Hendrix was so kind and generous. He showed us his packing shed, controlled atmosphere storage facility, office headquaters, and one of his many onion fields. He was very giving of his expert knowledge and even shared personal photographs of his farm with us. We couldn't have asked for a better tour guide. The field trip was a tremendous success! | |

Hendrix Produce is a family owned farm located in Candler County. Mr. Hendrix's dad, R.E. Hendrix, began planting Vidalia onions in 1976. They currently plant approximately 1000 acres of Vidalia onions, 200 acres of watermelons, and 100 acres of cantaloupes. We would like to express our sincere thanks to Mr. Hendrix and all the ladies of Hendrix Produce for spending their time and sharing their knowledge with us. |
